Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard surfaces

A comeback Medvedev claimed his first title for over two years with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has endured a difficult year, managing just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the US Open.

His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in specific - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with former mentor Cervara.

Presently working with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested three-set win over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents the player's first championship following the Rome competition and initial on a hard court from March of 2023.

The win also means the Russian has achieved twenty-one championships at 21 different events.

"For the first time I have attended a competition with my children simultaneously, so to secure a title is really nice," commented world number 14 Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I won when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his previous six championship matches, comprising in that event previously this season.

The player's defensive play style and regular reactions on the tennis court had caused observers to question if his capacity to perform at the highest level was over.

However the 29-year-old has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and compete positively, backed up by an improved serve.

Medvedev recovered from a break down in the opening set against the tricky opponent, winning four of the concluding five games to take the lead.

The competitors swapped service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, bidding for his first tour victory, gained dominance to force a final set.

He defended four early chances in a competitive final set before the champion won the break to 15 to serve for the match.

Suitably, he earned victory with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
