UK Military Sites to Host Refugee Applicants in Effort to Cease Hotel Usage
Hundreds asylum seekers might be housed in defense installations as the administration aims to phase out the use of hotels.
Talks are ongoing regarding the conversion of two locations - one in Scotland and a second in the English south - for accommodation for 900 male individuals.
The government leader has ordered Domestic Affairs and Defense Department representatives to expedite initiatives to identify appropriate military sites.
The administration has committed to terminate the utilization of refugee hotels, which have consumed billions in funds and turned into a central issue for anti-migrant protests.
Planned Military Locations
Individuals may be accommodated in the Cameron military facility in Highland region and Crowborough military training facility in the southern county by the final days of the upcoming month.
Commercial facilities, short-term shelter and otherwise disused accommodation are also being considered for possible utilization.
Authorities Assurances
Authoritative figures stated that each location would adhere to safety regulations.
"The government remains deeply troubled at the scale of illegal migrants and asylum hotels."
"The current leadership will close each temporary accommodation facility. Work are well underway, with additional appropriate locations being brought forward to alleviate strain on communities and cut asylum costs."
Existing Shelter Figures
Approximately 32 thousand refugee applicants are at this time being sheltered in hotel facilities, representing a drop from a high point of over fifty-six thousand in the previous year.
A recent report found that billions of government revenue had been "misused" on asylum accommodation.
Earlier Military Facility Utilization
Two previous defense facilities - MDP Wethersfield in Essex and the Napier facility in Kent - are already being used to accommodate asylum seekers after being established under the former administration.
The Prime Minister stated on the developments, stating: "I am committed to close all asylum hotels. I can't tell you how disappointed and concerned the administration feels that we face a situation as big as these developments by the previous administration."
